Wladimir de Terlikowski (Wlodzimierz Terlikowski) was a Polish painter, born into a family of Polish nobility from the Warsaw region. He discovered the world of art through his many travels in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland and North Africa. A portrait and landscape painter, he tirelessly painted Venice, exhibiting his work at the Bernheim and Charpentier galleries in Paris. He exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1912, 1913 and 1919. In 1920, he was named Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. He painted portraits of contemporaries such as Léonard Foujita, Antoine Bourdelle and Stacia Napierkowska. Bankers David David-Weill, Regent of the Banque de France, and Henri Nouvion, Managing Director of the Banque de l’Afrique occidentale, gave Wladimir de Terlikowski financial support throughout his life.
