Rare épingle au portrait du prince Poniatowski. Epingle d’habit en or 750 millièmes ornée d’un portrait miniature ovale peint sur ivoire du prince Joseph-Antoine Poniatowski (1763-1813), généralissime du Grand-Duché de Varsovie, maréchal de l’Empire (16 octobre 1813), en petite tenue de général en chef de l’armée du Grand-Duché de Varsovie, portant les croix, plaque et ruban du Grand-Aigle de la Légion d’honneur (14 juin 1809) et la plaque de l’Ordre militaire polonais du Virtuti Militari (1809). Bon état, petit accident au verre. Vers 1813-1817. La monture postérieure. Poids brut: 2,3 g. H. 1,4 (4,8) cm.

Sieradisky nacque in una famiglia polacca a Bielgorod in Ucraina- in seguito entra nell’Accademia di Belle Arti di San Pietroburgo dove si diploma nel 1870 meritandosi una medaglia d’oro per il quadro ‘Alessandro il Macedone ed il suo medico Filippo’, nonchè una borsa di studio di sei anni all’estero. Nel corso del suo viaggio artistico il pittore passa per Monaco di Baviera, dove realizza ‘L’orgia romana’, ora presso il Museo Russo di San Pietroburgo. A Roma arriva nel 1872 e stabilendosi infine in una magnifica villa all’angolo di Via Gaeta con Viale di Castro Pretorio.
Nei suoi dipinti si trovano numerosi richiami a opere rinvenute negli scavi a Roma e all’ombra del Vesuvio, luoghi di cui l’artista appare innamorato al punto tale da trasferirli nelle sue opere molto spesso. Nell’arco di tre decenni, quasi ogni anno, andò ad ammirare la Baia di Napoli, gli scavi archeologici e le opere esposte nel Museo Archeologico: alcune di queste appaiono tra l’altro nel dipinto ‘Le torce di Nerone’.

PROVENANCE
Purchased by Maria Dirina and her husband the Swedish businessman Gösta Hellman (the grandparents of the present owners) in the Soviet Union in the late 1920s. The Dirins were landowners who lived near Kharkov. Shortly after the revolution Maria Dirina met and fell in love with the Swedish Businessman Gösta Hellman. Her younger sister Olga, however, was suffering from tuberculosis, so Hellman married her and brought her to Stockholm for treatment. He then immediately divorced her, and returned to Russia to marry the woman he loved, Maria. He was working for SKF (a large Swedish company with business interests in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kharkov) and together the couple formed this collection of paintings, bringing them first to Helsinki and then finally to Stockholm when they settled there after the end of the Second World War.
