Józef Gardecki. Rozpacz

Rzeźba Józefa Gardeckiego, znana jedynie ze zbiorów w MNW stanowiła cymes na aukcji w Schloss Ahden. Egzemplarz Rozpaczy był odlany w Warszawie przez firmę Bracia Łopieńscy z gipsu wykonanego przez artystę w Paryżu w 1909 roku. Załączam PDF artykułu o artyście:

Lot 3368. Józef Gardecki (1880 Warsaw – 1952 Göra Kalwaria). “Rozpacz” (Despair). Original title Bronze. dark patinated. Signed u. dat. 1909 with indication of place Paris; foundry stamp “BR. LOPIENSKY WARZAWA”. Sculpture “Despair”. Nude figure of a man in crouched pose with bent left leg crouching at the corner of an angular pedestal, holding both hands tightly to his head as an expression of his despair. Rare bronze by the important Polish sculptor who studied at the Academy in Cracow 1901-1905; 1907-1909 he lived in Paris where he continued his sculpture studies with Auguste Rodin in his studio in Meudon. From 1910-1926 he ran a sculpture workshop in Warsaw; as a result of the Warsaw Uprising, his studio, along with much of his artistic output, was destroyed by the German occupiers in 1944. H. 27 cm. Provenance: From the estate of a private collection in North Rhine-Westphalia. Dark patinated bronze. Signed and dated 1909 with location Paris. Foundry stamp “BR. LOPIENSKY WARZAWA”. Estimate 900 – 1,800 euro. Schloss Ahlden. 05/13/23. Sold 6,000 euro
