Fragments of an old paper label. 17 1/2 x 23, framed 28 x 34. Original canvas, light vertical stretcher marks visible in raking light, no inpainting visible under blacklight, canvas slightly rippled and needs rekeying; toned varnish, most visible in the sky. Provenance: Purchased by William Brewster of the Brewster Carriage Company, 1866-1949, in Paris circa 1890 and passed down to his granddaughter Marie. Estimate $30000-50000.
