Władysław Bakałowicz (1833 – 1903)

Władysław Bakałowicz. A Banquet with courtiers entertaining Henry IV of France

Wątpię by te ceny wróciły kiedykowlwiek a przykładem jest obecna praca z wyceną około 1,000 euro. Drobną zaletą tej kompozycji jest nieduży wymiar (proszę nie posądzać mnie o uszczypliwość).

Lot 93. A Banquet with courtiers entertaining Henry IV of France (1553-1610) signed lower right “Bakalowicz” oil on panel 34 x 55cm. Footnote: Born in Poland, Bakalowicz studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts from 1849 to 1854. In 1863, he left for France and permanently settled in Paris. He specialised in so-called ‘historical genre’ paintings, which took inspiration from sixteenth and seventeenth century French history, especially the court of Henry III and his successor, Henry IV. These pictures were carefully devised to offer a ‘snapshot’ of history and capture ‘the spirit of the times’ with focus on the realistic rendering of period costume and interior. Condition report: The frame has some minor losses. Oil on panel. The wood grain is running horizontally and has a slight warp. Overall the support and paint layers are in a good condition. The varnish is even and slightly yellowed. There are small losses to the frame. Estimate 800 – 1,200 euro. Cheffins. 03/11/20
