Jerichau Baumann painted other versions of this scene – with greater or lesser variations. Worth mentioning is “Strandfogeden i Harboøre i Jylland modtager i sit hjem meddelelse om en stranding”, (‘The wreck master in Harboøre in Jutland receives news in his home of a wreck), which measures 79×112 cm. Although not a direct repetition, the similarities between that work and the present one is evident, as the same interior and several of the figures are present in both works.
