Lot 178. SOBEL, Jehudith (Polish, American 1924 – 2012). (Still life with flowers in a vase), 1964. Oil on canvas, signed and dated ‘J. Sobel 64’ (lower right); framed. A few spots of surface grime, an unobtrusive bulge on the upper right (probably original condition), else in very good condition.

• Notes: The art of Jewish artist Jehudith Sobel shows influence of such art movements as postimpressionism and constructivism, and of such artists as Matisse, Malevich, and Braque. Taking these influences as a point of departure, Sobel arrived at her own artistic style, just around the time the work offered here was painted.

Oceniam te dwie prace za jedne z lepszych tej artystki jakie widziałem (zwłaszcza martwa natura). Zainfekowanie rynku (amerykańskiego) jej fasyfikatami jest obecnie ogromne bo została stosunkowo niedawno spopularyzowana w Polsce.
