Tomasz Kawiak, also known as “Tomek”, is a Polish visual artist, painter and sculptor. He is the author of numerous artistic gestures: barter-art exchanges, brickwork of the world, the metric system and its narrowing, circumstantial drawings… In 1970 he created “Tomek’s Pain”, the first ecological and social action in communist Poland. Creator-inventor of the clothing sculpture using “Jeans” and enlargements of “pockets”, made of patinated bronze and marble, representing symbols of our time. Since 1997 he has been carrying out his “Long March of the John” project, initially planned in China and later presented around the world. Since 1970, he has exhibited all over the world, and appears in numerous public and private collections in Europe, the United States, Latin America, Japan, China, Korea and Australia.
