JOHAN STARBUS 1679-1724 According to the inscription, the portrait depicts the Polish princess Anna Leszczyńska (1699–1717) Signed on verso J. Starbus. pinx., oil on canvas, 78.5 x 64 cm Paper label on verso; “Anna Leszinska, King Stanislaw Leszinska’s eldest daughter probably donated to Field Marshal Staël o ****, born Ridderschantz to Araslöf” PROVENANCE The industrialist Jean Bolinder (1813-1899) built the Bolinder Palace (today the KAK House) on Blasieholmen in Stockholm in 1874 -1877. The portrait was acquired when moving into and furnishing the newly built palace. The portrait has been inherited and is today sold by a relative in the fourth generation, to Jean Bolinder.
Anna Leszczyńska (1699–1717) was the eldest daughter of the Polish King Stanisław Leszczyński and his wife, the Castellan of Poznań, Katarzyna Opalińska. Her younger sister Maria (born 1703), married King Louis XV and became queen of France. Anna’s untimely death was probably caused by pneumonia and she was only 18 years old. In the National Museum’s collections there are two portraits made by Johan Starbus in 1712, one by Anna Leszczyńska when the princess is 13 years old. (NMGrh 1292) and the other by her sister Maria Leszczynska, 9 years old (NMGrh 30) later Queen of France. In comparison with the portrait in the National Museum’s collections painted by Johan Starbus depicting Katarina Opalinska, 1680-1749, queen of Poland (NMGrh 1293) and depicted in the same pose but wearing a different dress, the portrait above probably depicts Anna’s mother Katarina Opalinska at 32 years old.
The portrait should have been donated to Sofia Elisabet Ridderschantz (1697-1787) to Araslöv (in Kristanstad municipality in Skåne), married in 1761 to the field marshal and governor Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein (1685-1763).

Maria Leszczyńska była córką polskiego króla Stanisława Leszczyńskiego i Katarzyny Opalińskiej. Poślubiła piętnastoletniego króla Francji Ludwika XV w 1725 roku i miała z nim w sumie dziecięcioro dzieci. Życiorys obojga nadaje się na serial filmowy i zapewne takie już były nakręcone. Maria Leszczyńska pochodziła z polskiej rodziny królewskiej i stąd jej obecność na blogu, nawet portret zostal namalowany przez nieznanego malarza. Jej kilka portretów było już prezentowanych wcześniej na blogu, w późniejszym wieku. Para portretów z roku w którym nastapiły zaślubiny?

Ludwika Maria Gonzaga (1611 – 1667) była żoną dwóch polskich królów, Władysława IV oraz później Jana Kazimierza. Wg opisu domu aukcyjnego, miniatura została namalowana w XVIII wieku. Z przyjemnością ją dołączam do innych portretów i wizerunków królewskich zarejestrowanych na tym blogu.

Znanych jest kilka jego portretów Aleksandra Sobieskiego, w tym wykonany Jana Kupeckiego. Ten z aukcji w Osenat jest dość atrakcyjny, opisany na dole półtna oraz posiada w górnym prawym rogu heb Rzeczpospolitej ujęty pod koroną. Portret wykonany zapewne za życia królewicza. Portret Marii Klementyny Sobieskiej, wnuczki Jana III Sobieskiego a córki jego syna, niedoszłego króla Jakuba Sobieskiego. Mariia Klementyna, poprzez więzy krwi, była osobą niezwykle ustosunkowaną z panującymi wówczas w Europie. Wyszła za mąż za księcia Jakuba Stewarda, pretendenta do tronu Anglii, syna obalonego króla Anglii Jakuba II Stewarda i miała z nim dwóch synów. Zmarła młodo w depresji i dewocji. Wiele znanych jest jej portretów. Ten jest wyjątkowo piękny. A może by tak władze polskie do Wilanowa kupiły?

Portret Stefana Batorego. Myślę, że to może być kopia (XIX w lub znacznie późniejsza?) jakiegoś innego obrazu. O jakości pracy świadczy wskazujący palec prawej ręki króla (ręki trzymającej buławę) wyrastający spod kciuka (a może to jakaś klamra trymająca buławę?). A kciuk, swoją drogą bardzo szpiczasty.

Cadre en bronze doré et ciselé. B.E. Provenance : Collection Norbert de Beaulieu. Biographie : Marie LESZCZYNSKA (Trzebnica, 23 juin 1703 – Versailles, 24 juin 1768) est la seconde fille de Catherine Opalinska et de Stanislas Ier Leszczynski, roi de Pologne entre 1704 et 1709. Elle fut reine de France par son mariage avec Louis XV en 1725 et par son fils le dauphin Louis, qui épousa Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, elle est la grand-mère des trois derniers rois de Fran ce, Louis XVI, Louis XVIII et Charles X. Laissée à l’écart des affaires et peu considérée par la Cour, elle se consacra à son couvent fondé à Versailles pour l’instruction des jeunes filles pauvres, aujourd’hui le lycée Hoche. Elle veilla à l’éducation morale et religieuse du dauphin son fils qui décéda trois ans avant elle en 1765. Délaissée peu à peu par le roi, même s’il garda pour elle une profonde affection, elle s’adonna à la dévotion et prit sous sa protection un très grand nombre d’oeuvres charitables, contribuant notamment à la diffusion du culte du Sacré-Coeur.
