Od ponad roku Concept Art Gallery z Pittsburga wyprzedaje spuściznę po Henryku Glicensteinie. Moim zdaniem, najlepsza była pierwsza seria prac przedstawiająca rzeźby tego artysty z przełomu XIX/XX wieku. Jednak, w każdej serii licytowanych prac znajduje się coś wyjątkowego. Tym razem nie jest to rzeźba lecz praca w oleju przedstawiająca prozaiczną scenę z żoną artysty przysłuchującą się jej bratu czytającego książkę. Trudno odczytać, czy kobieta słucha z zamknietymi oczami czy też jest pochłonięta swoimi myślami. Obraz jest namalowany w 1920 roku na płycie drewnianej, która pękła co dla niektórych może stanowić problem, choć innym to nie przeszkodzi.

Z obecnych na aukcji siedmiu prac wybrałem duży olej przedstawiający artystę ze swoją rodziną jak też późną rzeźbę w drzewie Lovers. Jak widać, prace Henryka Glicensteina, przechowywane dotychczas w rękach rodziny ulegają rozproszeniu. Pozostał opublikowany w 2012 roku katalog wszystkich (niemal) prac artysty, którego przegląd pozwala mi przypuszczać, że w niedalekiej przyszłości należy spodziewać się na aukcjach kolejnej serii – te moim zdaniem najlepsze prace, z początków kariery rzeźbiarskiej, zostały sprzedane na pierwszej aukcji ok. rok temu. Warto śledzić pod kątem jego rzeźb rynki europejskie bo pojawiają się czasami odlewy, które artysta wykonywal na specjalne zamówienie.

Jeden z nich to autoportret przedstawiający zamyślonego Glicensteina z bukietem kwiatów, ubranego ‘do wyjścia’, w garniturze, z kapeluszem, dość niedbale zawiązanym krawatem. Ten autoportret oraz drugi olej, pejzaż włoski, obrazują mało znany rozdział twórczości Henryka Glicensteina jako malarza.

To jest chyba już piąta seria prac Henryka Glicensteina (rzeźb, olejów, rysunków, litografii) wyprzedawanych przez Fundację Dreyfussa wykonanych. W pierwszej serii zostały sprzedane chyba najlepsze moim zdaniem rzeźby tego artysty sięgające początków XX wieku (https://polishartcorner.com/2024/09/22/henryk-glicenstein-1870-1942-7/). Nie ma znaczenia, że niektóre z nich nie są sygnowane bo są przedstawione w katalogu raisonne wraz z dodatkowymi informacjami, nie zawsze uwzględnionymi w obecnym katalogu aukcyjnym. Jak wynika z zawartości katalogu raisonne, Henryk Glicenstein wykonał w swoim życiu zaledwie nieco ponad 200 rzeźb, choć nie wszystkie, chyba jako zapomniane, zostały skatalogowane – są na to przykłady. Wystawiał dużo i był poważanym oraz cenionym artystą w I połowie XX wieku posiadając szerokie koneksje w świecie artystycznym i politycznym. Miał możliwość i chęć by objąć pracownię rzeźby opuszczoną w Warszawie przez Xawerego Dunikowskiego, lecz na skutek presji i agresjii z zewnątrz zrezygnował. Obecnie w Polsce jego prace pojawiaja się niezwykle rzadko i docierają chyba tylko do poważnych kolekcjonerów. Artysta za życia zlecał czasami wykonanie odlewu konkretnej pracy, ale było to na konkretne zamówienie. Czasami tych odlewów można doliczyć się jednej sztuki, czasami były to trzy, a rekordem jest Dziewczyna z mandoliną (https://polishartcorner.com/2024/03/20/henryk-glicenstein-1870-1942-5/), która miała około 20 kopii lecz na przestzreni około 20 lat.
Przeglądając katalog raissone Henryka Glicensteina zauważyłem, że znajduje się jeszcze wiele prac w posiadaniu Fundacji Dreyfussa, które nie pokazały się na aukcjach. Należy zatem oczekiwać w niedalekiej przyszłości kolejnej partii w Concept Art Gallery. Cierpliwości!

Loeb was a writer, journalist and social activist. Born Sophie Irene Simon in Russia, she became a school teacher in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, at the East End Public School before marrying Ansel F. Zainteresowanie jego twórczością powinno rosnąć skoro rynek wzbogaca się o niedostęone do niedawna jego prace. Henryk Glicenstein był bardziej znany za swojego życia jak i po śmierci na zachodzie Europy oraz w USA niż w Polsce. Warto zapoznać się z katalogiem prac wszystkich tego artysty wydanej w USA kilka lat temu. Okazuje się, że nawet polskie muzea (MNK) tego katalogu nie posiadają w swoich bibliotekach.

Przewidziałem nie tak dawno, że odbędzie sie wkrótce druga aukcja rzeźb Henryka Glicensteina pochodząca z Fundacji Dreyfussa: https://polishartcorner.com/2024/09/22/henryk-glicenstein-1870-1942-7/. Ta aukcja odbyła się dzisiaj i jak widać z wyników prace w brązie i marmurze zdecydowanie są preferowane od tych z drewna. Jestem przekonany, że podobne aukcje będą wkrótce miały miejsce bo Fundacja Dreyfussa posiadała ich znacznie więcej. Poza rzeźbami artysta ten tworzył prace w oleju oraz wykonał kilkaset różnych rycin. Warto śledzić i uzupełnić swoją kolekcję jego pracami.
