Portrety dwojga historycznych postaci, małżonków Renée Dahon i Maurycego Maeterlincka. Renée Dahon (1893–1969) była popularną francuską aktorką teatralna i filmową. Poślubiła w 1919 roku znacznie starszego od siebie Mauricego Maeterlincka (1862 – 1949), który był belgijskim poetą, pisarzem teatralnym, eseistą. Maeterlinck otrzymał w 1911 roku Nagrodę Nobla w dziedzinie literatury. Małżeństwo zawarte między 26 letnią Renée Dahon i 57 letnim Maurycym Maeterlinckiem należało do udanych, Tadeusz Styka namalował dwa znakomite portrety, które być może zostaną teraz rozdzielone.
