Proweniencja z Galerii Gmurzyńskiej oraz certyfikat od rodziny artystki to dwie informacje jakie są potrzebne by przyjąć, że ten w moim przekonaniu słaby obraz wyszedł spod ręki Alicji Halickiej. Zwykle jej kubistyczne prace są dla mnie refreshing, lecz ta mnie nie jest. Gdyby nie certyfikat córki artystki to chyba bym napisał z innej nuty.

Alica Halicka, the daughter of a Jewish doctor, was born in 1894 in Krakow and subsequently grew up in Switzerland and Austria. In 1912 she moved to Paris, where she studied with Paul Sérusier and Maurice Denis at the Académie Ranson and under Fernand Cormon. In Paris she also met Louis Marcoussis, whom she married in 1913. Their daughter Malène was born in 1922. Through Marcoussis, Halicka joined the circle of Cubists, to which she belonged until 1921, before her works increasingly approached Surrealism. Our still life gives a convincing impression of the clarity of Halicka’s Cubist painting between strict composition and delicate transparencies of colour.
