Stanislas Ignace WITKIEWICZ Dit Witkacy (1885-1939) Portrait of type B, made under the influence of N II 6m Pastel and charcoal, signed lower left, dated 1928 XII and annotated TB lower middle and N II 6m lower right. 62 x 47 cm. (Tear, small holes in the paper at the bottom). It could very probably be the portrait of Marian Zyndram Koscialkowski (1892-1946), future prime minister of Poland. Provenance: Koscialkowski family (Sale Koscialkowski, Tarbes 25/04/2004). Private collection from Bordeaux. TB in a circle, indicating that this portrait is Type B: “Genre with more character, but without anything caricatural. Work more jolted than in Type A, with traits of character, which does not exclude the “prettiness” in the female portraits. Objective reports of the model ” 250 Zlotys in 1932. N II 6m, corresponding to the mixtures of drugs that the artist took to execute his work. It is in 1928, that he uses for the first time the first time of “Peyote” hallucinogen that he qualified of “metaphysical drug”. Rules of the firm reproduced on page 85 of the book “S. I. Witkiewicz and painting” Grugten 1984 (Will be given to the buyer). “Today he is considered not only the most important personality of the Polish interwar period, but also the first to have shown Polish literature the way to modernity. Fotografia przedstawiająca Artura Rubinsteina, wykonana przez Witkacego w Zakopanem około 1913 roku. Kolekcjonerów fotografii jest stosunkowo niewielu w porównaniu do kolekcjonerów malarstwa, niemiej jest to spora gratka ze względu na nazwisko fotogtafującego oraz nazwisko pianisty. Poza tym, fotografia ta ma sporą historię wystawienniczą oraz albumową. Nie jest tania.

Moim zdanie, ten pastel Witkacego bezsprzecznie zostane dołączony do najważniejszych tegorocznych znalezisk na rynkach zachodnich. Trudno sobie wyobrazić cenę w Polsce ale to będzie wielokrotność tej niemieckiej. Dlatego, osoba, która widzi tę pracę u siebie na ścianie winna walczyć o nią w Niemczech. Pozostaje do ustalenia nazwisko kobiety przedstawionej na pracy.
Lot 221. Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz –Weibliches Portrait, 1938. Pastel chalks on black card 64.7 x 48.6 cm Framed under glass. Signed, dated, and inscribed ‘Ign Witkiewicz 1938 30/III (T. B+d) NP/NTT + herb.’ in white lower left. – In fine condition with fresh colours. Mounted on supporting card. Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy) was a writer, philosopher and artist blessed with a number of creative talents. In 1924 Witkacy founded the company “S.I. Witkiewicz”, in whose name he accepted portrait commissions in order to support himself financially. As his only employee he personally compiled something like a set of contractual guidelines for his clients, containing 17 paragraphs. These dictated, for example, that clients had no right to have the work destroyed if they were unsatisfied, that they were not allowed to see it before completion, that they were to appear punctually as models and that they were not allowed to express any criticism of the final artistic product. In addition, Witkacy defined seven types of portraits: clients could choose among them and the price was also determined according to them (cf. Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz, Rules of the S.I. Witkiewicz Portrait-Painting Firm, Warschau 1932 [trans. from Polish by Beata Zgodzinska and Beata Brodniewicz], cited in: The Polish Journal of Aesthetics, vol. 31 4/2014, pp. 53-58).
The artist often consumed various stimulants or other drugs during the process of creating his work, and he always placed their abbreviations prominently in his pictures, together with his signature, the date and the selected portrait type. The inscription on our intense portrait indicates that Witkacy found himself in a more abstinent phase of his work and that, in the context of this portrait’s production, he did not smoke (“NP”), did not drink alcohol (“NTT”) and did drink tea (“herb.”) (cf. Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz, Narcotics – Nicotine, Alcohol, Cocaine, Peyote, Morphine, Ether + Appendices, Prag 2018, trans. from Polish by Soren Gauger, pp. 9 f.). As a type “B+d”, this work brings out the character of the female model and simultaneously underscores her beauty. Portraits from this category can display caricature-like tendencies, for example, in the slight enlargement of individual passages of the face (cf. op. cit., pp. 54-58).
Witkacy put an end to his life with a decisiveness resembling that of his personal perspective on art. Fleeing from advancing German troops, he died in 1939 from an overdose of sleeping pills. Le tableau porte les symboles qui décrivent le caractère et circonstances de la création spécifiés dans le règlement sa ‘Firme de portraits’. Ainsi il s’agit du ‘Type B’ (dans l’échelle de A à E) qui indique le dégrée de la déformation du modèle, tandis que le symbole ‘NP’ indique que l’artiste n’a pas fumé pendant la séance. Sukinsyn, który namalował tę karykaturę pracy Witkiewicza, nabrał już sporo ludzi. Proweniencja (o ile można mówić o preweniencji) jest już długa. Najpierw to g…. sprzedano bez ramy w Treadway Toomay Auction (09/18/2011) aż za $4,500, by trzy lata później właściciel sprzedał ze stratą w Capo Auctions (05/31/14) za $2,500. Prawdopodobnie wtedy, dr. Bogdanowicz, znający się dobrze na neurochirurgii lecz nic nie na malarstwie, kupił ten szmelc. Po jego śmierci pastel ten został w końcu oceniony w Jackson’s jako ‘attributed’. Obawiam sie, że może znaleźć się kolejny doktor, który będzie dzielnie wierzył swoim oczom, że trafił w dziesiątkę. Jedyne rozwiązanie jakie widzę, to należy zniszczyć tę pracę. Nie pisałbym o tym śmieciu, gdyby nie został on mocno rozreklamowany na wieu portalach malarskich. Ciekawe, że oryginany pastel, namalowany przez Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza na prawdę istnieje.

Trudno zmusić ludzi do nauki, rozsądku i do myślenia. W katalogu Jackson’s wyraźnie jest napisane, że pastel ten jest jedynie przypisany Witkacemu a nie narysowany przez Witkiewicza. Poza tym, był już dwa razy sprzedany w USA (https://polishartcorner.com/2020/09/22/stanislaw-ignacy-witkiewicz-1885-1939-7/ ). Teraz głupcy walczą o tego falsa nie wierząc, że to jest fals. W artinfo.pl pokazany jest prawdziwy pastel Witkiewicza na podstawie którego powstał ten fals:
Przerażenie wariata. Inna odbitka tej fotografii była sprzedana w grudniu 2012 roku w Sotheby’s za $10,000.

to powinno było stać się dla narzeczonej ostrzeżeniem. Nie zwiastowało jej nic dobrego. Przedstawia kobietę jako niszczące
mężczyznę, dominujące monstrum o tępej, złośliwej
gębie. Spoza owej megiery, niczym na ślubnej fotografii, wyłania się postać młodego, urodziwego artysty. Wątpić należy o
bliższym porozumieniu owej pary. Związek ten
spaja raczej przykra konieczność. Łatwo dostrzec tu refleks lektur Weiningera
wraz z przeświadczeniem o
niebezpiecznej naturze kobiet, wyraz mizoginistycznych uprzedzeń przyszłego Witkacego”.2Niełatwy zapewne związek zakończył się
