Depicting the countess dressed in a low cut dress and an ermine-lined blue velvet cloak. With an indistinct contemporary inscription on the reverse. 6.2 x 5 cm. In a later tortoiseshell surround. The frame backing inscribed: “Dieses Gemälde der Gräfin Cosel stammt aus der Sammlung des Fürsten Jablonowski” “Nr. 1015”.
German school, early 18th C. Imperial Countess Anna Constantia von Cosel, née Countess Brockdorff (Depenau 1680 – 1765 Stolpen), was one of the most famous and influential mistresses of the Saxon king Augustus the Strong. Estimate 600 – 800 euro. Lempertz. 11/12/20
