Nie tak dawno sprzedano dużą wersję tej pracy w UK, https://polishartcorner.com/2020/10/29/iwan-trusz-1869-1941-7/ . W Polsce też pojawiały się repliki. Obecnie w Dorotheum maleńka tego ujęcia Dniepru w wykonaniu Iwana Trusza.

Na moje oko, jest to słaba praca Trusza. Myślę, że na temat autentyczności wypowie się wkrótce ktoś zza wschodnej granicy Polski. Zapraszam.

Skłaniam się, że jest to praca Iwana Trusza, lecz tchu nie zapiera. Wycena adekwatna.

PS. Dom aukcyjny Arnold nie pakuje i nie wysyła sam prac a zatem koszta pakowania i transporu przez obcą firmę będą niewspółmiernie wysokie  – każdy przecież musi zarobić.

Here is some info I came across which may interest you:

About the Evening over the Iordan river. An oil on cardboard version of the same landscape exists in a Ukrainian private collection, pfa. Signed and named in the low right corner in Ukrainian. The Arnold’s oil on canvas is signed in Latin and evidently named in Polish. It is quite possible that both variants are done by Trusz, but a vice versa variant is possible as well. It is not uncommon for Trusz both to make several versions or author’s copies of the same painting (pls see below if this is the case) and also to have the name of the picture signed in the corner along with the signature (there are samples from his Italian pictures), but the Arnold’s one has the name written in different color than the signature and so far I failed to find another example of such signing.  

As for the Bonham’s Dnieper landscape, another version of this painting was exhibited in Kyiv 2 years ago https://nuart.com.ua/en/paintings/dnepr/ (at the gallery of highly respected Kyiv collector), this is evidently different from both version you refer to. I can not tell if all three are authors’ copies or not, but personally the one in Kyiv looks most genuine to me, the Bonham’s one looks more like an early version and the one of Agra looks doubtful, but I may be mistaken.

Zakole Dniepru Iwana Trusza w Bonhams. Obraz wygląda niezwykle podobnie do ‘dublera’ sprzedanego w Agrze Art w marcu 2020 (lot 17) za 95,000 PLN. Obraz z Agry był prezentowany na wystawie w 2007 roku, obraz z Bonhmas (prawie identyczne wymiary) ma proweniencję z Polski. Nie wiedzialem, że Iwan Trusz malował repliki. Hmmmm, ciekawe bardzo. Bonhams ostatnio jest pełen niespodzianek.

Bardzo sympatyczna odpowiedż nadeszła do mnie odnośnie apelu o informacje nt replik Iwana Trusza. Pani OB przesłała mi informacje potwierdzające moje przypuszczenia, że artysta wykonywał repliki swoich prac a nawet o obecności falsyfikatów już za jego życia. Warto też przeczytać (w języku ukraińskim lub zastosować Google Translation) załączone przez nią linki jak też PDF.

Twórczość Ivana Trusza podlega periodyzacji, jak według samego artysty, tak i jego badaczy.

Okres lwowski, powojenny (1918 – 1924) charakteryzuje się imponującą ilością powstałych prac malarskich – 2400.  W stosunkowo krótkim czasie artysta wykonał prawie 40 % obrazów, znajdujących się w jego twórczości, co miało wpływ na styl, jakość malarską dzieł.W tym okresie nowych obrazów powstaje mniej, zwiększa się liczba autorskich replik, kopii prac powstałych w poprzednich latach.

Jest to czas niepewności, artystę dręczą pytania o kontynuację drogi malarskiej, czy sztuka w ogóle jest potrzebna. Do tego dochodzą potrzeby materialne, poszukiwanie dochodu na codzienne utrzymanie. Brak czasu dla czystej sztuki.

Ciekawostka:

W odręcznym autobiograficznym eseju „Twórcza droga artysty” (1940), który nie został opublikowany za życia artysty, Ivan Trusz ironicznie stwierdza:

– Po ukończeniu Akademii , przez 42 lata mojego życia, wyprodukowałem około 6000 kiczów, dodatkowo 400 szkiców krajobrazów, namalowanych w ciągu ostatnich 20 lat.

Artysta za życia był uznany i jego obrazy były pożądane w każdym domu. Ten fakt wykorzystywały różnego rodzaju oszuści i fałszerzy.  Tylko samemu Truszowi udało się znaleźć 300 fałszywych obrazów.

Malarz narodowości ukraińskiej, wykształcony w Krakowie przez Stanisławskiego i Wyczółkowskiego i to wystarcza bym go tutaj umieścił. Jego prace cieszą sie popularnością również w Polsce lecz trzeba uważać bo niezliczona ilość falsyfikatów podszywa się pod to nazwisko. Ta konkretnia praca wygląda na dobrą i choć wyceniona została bardzo, bardzo nisko (Dusseldorfer Auktionshaus zwykle wyceniania wszystkie obiekty nisko by zainteresowanie było wysokie) to sprzedano ją też nisko – za 1,100 euro.

Condition:
The painting is overall in good, color fresh condition, showing minor paint losses to the margins. The inspection under UV light reveals small touch-ups to the trees in the background. The frame has slightly worn.

Iwan Trusz (1869-1941)
Iwan Trusz was born in the Halychyna Region of the Ukraine. From 1891 to 1897 he studied at the Art Academy in Krakow, which was followed by a stay in Vienna in 1894 and a studio visit at Anton Azbe’s house in Munich in 1987. During his travels, the painter also visited the Crimea (1901-1904), Italy (1902/08), as well as Egypt and Palestine (1912). In 1898 he settled in Lviv, where he established himself as a painter, art critic and publisher of the first Ukrainian art magazine. His extensive oeuvre includes numerous series of paintings of flowers, fields, Jewish cemeteries and landscapes, which he first presented in Lviv in 1899. During his lifetime, Iwan Trusz has also exhibited in Poland, London, Vienna and Sofia. Today, examples of his artistic output are preserved at the Lviv Art Museum.
