Lot 198. Glicenstein, Enrico (Henryk) (Polish/Jewish/American, 1870-1942), Still Life with Flowers, Sculpture and Book, 1932, oil on canvas, signed lower left, 24 x 31 inches, unframed. This lot includes the original sculpture of a Woman on a Donkey that Glicenstein used as a prop. The sculpture itself is fired clay, made in 1925/1926, and is listed in the catalogue raisonne as number 100. Painting with Glicenstein estate label attached to the verso. Provenance: The Estate of Hugo Dreyfuss (the son-in-law of the artist, who was married to Beatrice Glicenstein). Estimate $200 – 400. Concept Art Gallery. 10/11/25. Sold $900

Wśród bogatej aukcyjnej oferty rzeźb Henryka Glicensteina znalazł się jego olej przedstawiający kwiatową martwą naturę. Henryk Glicenstein był znakomitym rzeźbiarzem oraz dość płodnym rytownikiem, czasami rysownikiem, zaś oleje są stosunkowo rzadkie co nie oznacza, że są bardzo poszukiwane. Artysta jest ceniony głównie jako rzeźbiarz.

Oleje Konarskiego są dość chodliwe w Polsce, stanowią bowiem ersatz prac Wierusza. Kiedyś były nawet utożsamiane z Wieuszem i takie opinie były powielane nawet na piśmie w polskich katalogach. Tak było jeszcze nawet 25-30 lat temu na polskich rynkach. Wystarczy jednak powiększyć fragment takiego obrazu by przekonać się o słabości pędzla Konarskiego co nieniejszym czynię.
