Lot 593. Igor Mitoraj (Oederan 1944–2014 Paris). Centurion, 1987, signed and numbered 209/250, bronze (lost-wax casting), 20 x 13 cm, standing on a marble base 9.5 x 16 cm. Estimate 6,000 – 8,000. Dorotheum. 05/24/24. Sold 12,000 euro

Dzisiejsza aukcja internetowa w Dorotheum wywołała większe zainteresowanie pracami Igora Mitoraja od aukcji wczorajszej. Licytowano dość wysoko Centuriona wykonanego w ilości 250 egzemplarzy; nie należy mylić tej pracy z późniejszym Centurionem II, wykonanym w ilości 1,500 egzemplarzy. Tak czy owak, sporo tych Centurionów krąży po świecie. Ostro też licytowano rzeźbę Moonlight Venzezia wykonaną w 150 egzemplarzach, natomiast przebijano wielokrotnie Torso di femina (jedyne 25 egz.). Warte zainteresowania Pannello pettorale, jeden z tylko ośmiu egzemplarzy nie znalazł nabywcy.

Aukcja internetowa w Dorotheum nie przyniosła sukcesu temu gwaszowi. Przyjaciel napisał mi wczesniej, że naniesiona sygnatura artysty jest trochę ‘koślawa’. Może ma rację. Gdyby to była praca Lebensteina (może nawet jest) to dość wczesna myślę, że z drugiej połowy lat 50-tych. Brak proweniencji zadecydował o fiasku, cena wyjściowa była też wysoka.
