Lot 620. DWURNIK, EDWARD (Radzymin 1943-2018 Warsaw), Painting: “Zaloty – The Courtship”, acrylic and oil on canvas, signed on top right “E. Dwurnik” and dated “74” (1974); on the reverse handwritten dated, titled and inscribed with the dimensions and technique on an adhesive label printed with the artist’s name, as well as inscribed, titled (“Die Buhlerin”) and dated on another adhesive label of the former Galerie Georg van Almsick. Summarized, glazed to impasto painting style with broad contours. Dwurnik studied in Warsaw under Eugeniusz Eibisch and Jerzy Jarnuszkiewicz; his works thematise rural life and the life of Warsaw’s suburbs in a characteristically simplified, partly deforming depiction, among other things with influences of “Naive Painting”.
