Nietypowa XIX wieczna robota lwowskiego złotnika przedstawiająca portret księcia Józefa Poniatowskiego. Próba przypisania tej pracy wykonanej ze srebrej blachy konkretnemu złotnikowi spełzła na niczym. Spore zainteresowanie tak niespotykaną pracą.

Obraz Henryka Musiałowicza z serii Epitafia był subiektywnie najlepszy spośród tych trzech prac a w dodatku oprawiony został w autorską ramę – obraz i jego rama stanowią całość. Dwie pozostałe prace, choć mniejsze wymiarami, są równie dobre a w dodatku okazały się bardzo tanie. Nieustannie namawiam kolekcjonerów do uzupełniania kolekcji poza granicami Polski bo te same obrazy przywiezione do kraju będą tam już co najmniej podwójnie wycenione.

Glicenstein, Enrico (Henryk) (Polish/American, 1870-1942), Bust of a Girl (aka Santa, Saint or Pensierosa), 1902, bronze sculpture, unsigned, 17 x 17 x 9 inches. Catalogue Raisonne number 21. A copy of the catalogue raisonne is included with purchase. Exhibited numerous times in Europe from 1903-1926 (Munich, Krakow, Venice, Warsaw, etc) and also Anderson Galleries, New York, 1928 and Art Institute of Chicago, 1930. Provenance: The Estate of Hugo Dreyfuss, the son-in-law of the artist (married to Beatrice Glicenstein). Born in Switzerland in 1910, Dreyfuss started a textile business with his brother before moving to America in 1940. In the 1950s, he partnered with furniture designer Vladimir Kagan and designed and hand printed many fabrics for furniture and interior decorating. Hugo, Beatrice and her brother Emanuel Glicenstein (who was also an artist) were the keepers and cataloguers of Glicenstein’s body of work. Hugo worked on and pursued the biography/catalogue raisonne project that would become the book Life and Work of Enrico Glicenstein, by Charlotte Sholod. The book was finally published in 2014, seven years after Hugo’s death. Glicenstein’s work is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Hirshhorn Museum, Musee d’Art Moderne, Israel Museum, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna, Brooklyn Museum, Jewish Museum and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, among others. Kilka rzeźb znakomitego lecz mało w Polsce spopularyzowanego rzeźbiarza o polsko-żydowskich korzeniach Henryka Glicensteina. Rzeźb Glicensteina jest bardzo mało na rynku i może dlatego jest tak mało popularny, choć wśród koneserów jest niezwykle poważany. Artysta ten nie zlecał odlewania prac w ilościach komercyjnych (‘na wyrost’) lecz raczej na specjalne zamówienie. Dlatego pojawiają się czasami egzemplarze tej samej rzeźby w brązie wykonane w różnym czasie. Prace z aukcji pochodziły z rodzinnej kolekcji i natąpił widać czas by przeszły w inne ręce. Wyjątkowa to była okazja rynkowa i spodziewam się w przyszłości więcej z tego samego źródła. Pracownicy domu aukcyjnego byli bardzo zaskoczeni przebiegeiem aukcji (śledziłem) bo przecież dwa lata temu inny znakomity brąz tego artysty sprzedano za zaledwie $1,100. Tym razem walczono bardzo zawzięcie, nie tylko o to wspaniałe secesyjne popiersie zamyślowej dziewczyny lecz również o prace w drzewie.

Bardzo interesujące i konsekwentne malarstwo cichego lecz rozpoznawalnego artysty, którego twórczość w porównaniu ze współczesnymi koryfeuszami salonów jest w zasadzie pomijana. Swoje obrazy Henryk Musiałowicz malował bardzo powoli, niekiedy latami gdy uważał je za nie w pełni skończone. Cieszy nieco wyżej uzyskana zagraniczna cena od typowej i oby to była jaskółka zapowiadająca wiosnę, choć nie bardzo w to wierzę bo na modę lub jej brak nie ma rady.
