The present group of studies offered was made when Kotarbinsky worked on the decoration of Vladimirsky Cathedral in Kiev under the guidance of Adrian Prakhov. The work of Kotrabinsky in this period was influential for such prominent artists as Vrubel, who also participated in this project during his early years.

Original canvas; minor surface residue throughout, with small spots of residue at center left of painting; light wear to extreme edges with a few flecks of paint loss, most notable along top edge; light cracking with a surface scratch near the lower right corner; faint stretcher creases; otherwise, no visible condition issues. To czego należy oczekiwać po pracach Moniuszki: tańczący ułani, tańczący krakowiacy, kapela żydowska, karczma. Malowana pocztówka nawiązująca do okresu nadziei. Ładne, bo może trochę nieprawdziwe jak w teatrze, ale było potrzebne.

Lot 1458. Czeslaw Jan Moniuszko. (1853-1908 Polish) Festive interior scene with soldiers and dancers, framed oil on wood plate, signed bottom center, approximate diameter of plate 15 1/2″, frame 23 1/2″ x 23 1/2″.

Condition: 2 vertical crack lines from top to bottom, small areas of paint loss on right edge, dust build up on edges, mat heavily age toned and has chips, frame has losses.
