Każda praca Lebensteina jest inna i warta zatrzymania się nad nią. By lepiej zrozumieć tego artystę i jego prace trzeba poczytać o życiu tego artysty, przeprowadzone z nim wywiady i wspomienia osób z którymi sie przyjaźnił. Wyłoni się wtedy niezwykła osoba a jego twórczość stanie się bardziej czytelna.

Nalepki wystawowe na tej pracy powinny podnieść jej watosć. Jaka winna być wartość tej pracy bez nalepek wystawowych? Może $3,000. Z nalepkami, zwłaszcza z nowojorskiego MoMa winno być ok. 50% więcej. Mam kopię książki ’15 Polish Painters”, wydanej w 1961 proku przez Museum of Modern Arts (MoMa) i nie ma wzmianki o tej pracy Lebensteina na tej wystawie. Jednak, na odwrocie pracy z aukcji jest nalepka mówiąca, że praca ta była tam wystawiona. Jak było w rzeczywistości? Pewnie była wystawiona.

Czytelnik przysłał mi informację, że ta praca była rzeczywiście wystawiona w MoMa na tej historycznej wystawie. Pochodziła z prywatnej kolekcji autora katalogu wystawy, Petera Selza. Poniżej fotografia z kryjacycm się u zbiegu dwóch ścian tą figurą osiową. Dziekuję za odzew (w ten sposób wiem, że mam już dwóch czytelników blogu:-))

Dziesięć prac na papierze Jana Lebensteina, w większości ze znanej kolekcji Ralpha Bernsteina, przyjaciela malarza, było przedniotem licytacji w USA. Jedna z prac (lot 44) nie została sprzedana – ta praca pojawiła się w ubiegłym roku z tym samym skutkiem. Najdrożej sprzedano najwiekszą z figur osiowych, lot 51 ($2,400). Ceny pozostałych osycylowały w granicach $750 – 1,900. Mój faworyt, lot 46, został sprzedany za $1,800 (hammer). Facynuje mnie ten malarz.

Dwa duże i dobre oleje Jana Lebensteina z czerwcowej aucji w Dorotheum. Obie prace powstały w latach 70-tych. Casino było wystawione w Zachęcie w 1992 roku.

Dwie figury osiowe Jana Lebensteina, jedna sprzed trzech tygodni a druga z dnia dziesiejszego, obie sprzedane w Sotheby’s. Od figur osiowych rozpoczęła się międzynarodowa kariera tego malarza. Mógł pokierować karierą w ten sposób by stać sie sławny i bogaty a pokierował w sposób by być wierny swoim zasadom i nie słuchać i wzbogacać marszandów. Jest to wielka postać polskieg współczenego malarstwa, tłumiona przez zazdrość żyjących wówczas w Polsce nauczycieli, kolegów po fachu i krytyków sztuki, nawet do tej pory. Malarz z najwyższej półki. Warto o nim jako malarzu i jako niezwykłym czlowieku poczytać. Prace jego nadal są tanie jak na rynek współczesnego polskiego malarstwa. Odkrywanie trwa nadal powoli. Póki co wszystcy rzucają się na ‘koła’ bo tka jest moda.
