Lot 1045. KOSSAK, Jerzy, (Polish, 1886-1955): Soldier Feeding Horse a Bucket of Oats, Oil/Board, 12″ x 16″, signed lower right, dated 1938, framed 15″ x 18.75″. As a third generation painter, the Kossak name was well sought after in the early 1900’s. He specialized in realism, most specifically of military scenes.

KOSSAK, Jerzy, (Polish, 1886-1955): ”Charge”, ”Szarza”, Depicts Soldiers on Horseback Invading a City in The Winter, Unstretched Oil/Canvas, 37” x 55” painted surface, signed lower right, dated 1922. The finished picture of nearly the exact scene was sold at Christies in 2009, dated 1924. Jerzy was the third generation of well respected artists. He specialized in military scenes with the famed Uhlan soldiers on horseback. Provenance available upon request.
