Miniatura Jana Kaniewskiego opisana w katalogu jako atrybucja z ceną wyjściową 7,000 euro. Ciekawe, że ta sama praca ‘wisi’ na stronie katalogu Wilnitskiego z cena sprzedaży 15,000 euro i już bez atrybucji ale jako obraz przypisany Kaniewskiemu. Wilnitsky może miec rację choć Auctionata jest bardziej zachowawcza i ostrożna, gdyż miniatura nie jest sygnowana.

Miniature portrait of Russian Grand Duke Alexander Nikolaevich (1818-1881), later imperator Alexander II. of Russia, in the age of 20 years. Around 1838/39 when travelling through Europe the Grand Duke visited Rome and probably met there also Kaniewski, who enjoyed at the times big success as a portrait painter

Condition:
The miniature is in a very good condition consistent with age and firmly mounted into its frame. The paint layer is very fine and evenly craquelured. Under inspection in ultraviolet light and in parts also in sided light selective retouching can be seen in the background as well as on the figure. (cto)
