Footnotes
The Battle of Montmirail on 11th February 1814 would see Napoleon defeat the allied forces of Prussia and Russia, and marked the second of four victories for the Emperor during the Six Days’ Campaign. Although a victory for the outnumbered French forces, this campaign would indicate the end of the War of the Sixth Coalition and the downfall of Napoleon. As coalition forces began to push through France, placing huge pressure on its army, and eventually taking Paris at which point forcing the Emperor’s abdication.
