Marian Owczarski to nietuzinkowy człowiek i artysta, pracujący przez pewien czas w USA i opiekujący się wówczas polskimi zbiorami w Orchard Lake w stanie Michigan. Po jego śmierci pojawiło się na ynku sporo jego rzeźb wykonanych (uwaga) w stali nierdzewnej. Artysta miał takie ‘widzenie’ i przekonanie, że stal nierdzewna, mająca wysoką temperature topnienia, przetrwa wybuch atomowy. Zatem, przyszłe pokolenia (chyba karaluchów?) będą podziwiały jego prace. Trywializuję oczywiście i nieptrzebnie obśmiewam taki wybór materiału do pracy i ideologie stojąca za tym. Wystarczy jednak popatrzeć na większość jego prac by przekonać się, że stal nierdzewna była trudnym materiałem do pracy dla tego artysty, na połączeniach powstawały grube spawy, trudna była do modelowania i moim zdaniem estetyka prac była kiepska. Podziwiam jednak konsekwencję tego człowieka tworzącego z palnikiem acetylenowym lub zgrzewartą termiczną na wypadek wojny atomowej.
