He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown from an early age, where he rubbed shoulders with his compatriot Moses Kisling, under the Munich influence that prevailed in Krakow at the time. Like Kisling, his teacher was Józef Pankiewicz, who had been to France and had met the Impressionists Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard. Pankiewitz encouraged Kisling to go to Paris, and probably Rucki too.

In 1909, an exhibition of Picasso’s work was held in Munich. Rucki discovers Cubism and “Negro art”, and travels constantly to Eastern European cities: Vienna, Moscow, where he makes portraits to earn a living. He came into contact with this milieu, in which international art from Paris was very present, and where Cubism was disseminated. As early as 1910, a traveling Art Français exhibition showed Cubist works in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Kiev. Around 1909 or 1910, Rucki saw a Gauguin exhibition in Krakow. He decided to leave for France.

In February 1911, he moved to Paris and enrolled at the Académie Colarossi. There he met up again with his compatriot Moïse Kisling, who had arrived in France a year earlier. He shared a room with Modigliani on rue de la Grande Chaumière, and became very close to Soutine, who had arrived in Paris the same year. Soutine’s studio was located at La Ruche, where Marc Chagall, Blaise Cendrars, Gustave Miklos and, a little later, Fernand Léger were already living.

Odlew EA III/IV sprzedała Desa-Unicum w ubiegłyr roku za 60,000 złotych. Nikomu nie przeszkadza, że odlew ten jest pośmiertny, z 2006 roku. Porównując ceny, jak widać we Francji jest nadal taniej.

Górny olej wyszedł spod reki samego artysty i został miernie sprzedany; nie został odpowiednio zauważony. Natomiast praca poniższa została wykonana przez jego ‘atelier’, co jest wyraźnie zaznaczone w katalogu. Piszę o tym drugim oleju by przypomnieć i ostrzec, że w Polsce tego typu atelier-prace sprzedaje się jako rzekomo samego Jeana Lamberta-Ruckiego, co jest sporym oszustwem i uchodzi(ło) to na sucho nawet najwiekszym domom nad Wisłą, od Warszawy po Bałtyk. Na aukcji w Artcurial sprzedano również dwie rzeźby artysty, odlane co prawda pośmiertnie, lecz z bardzo gustownie naniesioną brązową patyną.

Wpis ten, bez mojego komentarza, przygotowałem ok. tydzień temu kopiując dokładnie opisy prac z katalogu domu aukcyjnego. Po dzisiejszym opublikowaniu wpisu napisał do mnie czytelnik zwracając mi uwagę, że dom aukcyjny Artcurial zmienił niedawno atrybucję pracy nr 109 na ATELIER LAMBERT RUCKI. Śpieszę poninformować o tej zmianie, której nie zauważyłem. Dziękuję czytelnikowi za korektę. Ciekawi mnie co i kto rzeczywiście kryje się pod nazwą ‘atelier’ w przypadku prac Lambert Ruckiego. Może ktoś wie i to kiedyś wyjaśni bo warto poznać szczegóły. List od czytelnika poniżej: (04/04/24)

pragnę zwrócić uwagę na niezawiniony przez Pana błąd: lot 109 z aukcji w Artcurial nie jest dziełem pędzla J. Lamberta Ruckiego. Dziełu temu specjaliści z Artucrial przypisali autorstwo “Atelier Lambet Rucki” vide oryginalny ktalog domu aukcyjnego: https://www.artcurial.com/en/sales/vente-fr-3247-art-moderne/lots/109

Co interesujące, początkowo, zanim dzieło dotarło do domu aukcyjnego, figurowało ono faktycznie, jako praca autorska, jednak w ostatnich dniach przed aukcją zmieniono mu klasyfikację, zapewne po konsultacji ze znamy parsykim ekspertem przedmiotu. Tu obserwacja godna nagłośnienia w polskim środowisku aukcyjnym: osoby zainteresowane dziełem (do których się zaliczałem) otrzymały od Artcurial informację, że nastąpila zmiana statusu autorskiego.

Pośmiertna ceramika Jeana Lambert-Ruckiego, która sprzedała się niezwykle wysoko. Być może jest to unikatowy egzmplarz jako, że brak informacji o nakładzie. Gdyby kilka egzemparzy zostało wykonanych to i tak chyba każdy z nich byłby do pewnego stopnia unikatowy.
