Female nude in interior: The mirror, one of the popular subjects of art, allows the double presentation of the model – beautiful nude painting of a young woman.
Condition:
The painting is in good condition consistent with the age. The varnish has been slightly darkened and there are very few small marks and a few spots with pigment loss overall. There are areas with scuffing due to the frame along the edges. A few retouched spots can be seen at the right edge. The frame is in good condition with signs of wear. The dimensions are 105 x 80.5 cm and the frame measures 126 x 100.5 cm.
Boleswaw Jan Czedekowski (1885-1969)
Boleswaw Jan Czedekowski was a well-travelled Polish-Austrian painter of the 20th century, who lived among others in Vienna, Paris and New York. Czedekowski studied at first at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His teachers were Rudolph Bacher and Kazimierz Pochwalski. The artist focused on portraits and genre painting. Mainly he painted portraits of the Vienna nobility. During the First World War he worked as a medical orderly and as a war artist. Works of this period painted by Czedekowski are in the collection of the Military History Museum in Vienna. At the beginning of the 1920s he left Austria and traveled to New York, later he lived in Paris for several years. The oeuvre of the artist is well represented by the moving portraits and family paintings Czedekowski created of the high society.

The painting is in a good condition, consistent with age and use. The stretcher measures 61 x 92.5 cm. The frame has light marks with tiny losses of material and measures 85 x 116 cm.
Leszek Piasecki (1928-1990)
Piasecki was born in Lvov, where he attended the School of Applied Arts. He also received artistic training from Stanislaw Batowski and Zygmunt Rozwadowski. He then continued his studies in Katowice. From 1951 he was a student of the Academy and trained by Ignacy Pienkowski, Fryderyk Pautsch, Jan Hoplinski and Jerzy Fedkowicz. Around the same time Piasecki became acquainted with Jerzy Kossak, the son of the best Polish horse painter, Wojciech Kossak, and his future teacher. After graduating he settled in Górny Śląsk. From 1956 to 1962 Piasecki worked as a graphic artist for the magazine ‘Panorama’, while he also established himself as a history painter. In 1974 he emigrated with his family to Austria, where he settled in Vienna. Since then he has mainly focused on depictions of battle and horse scenes. (cbo)
