Stanislaw Korzeniewski, Polish 1882-1942- Study of a boy by a fireplace; oil on canvas laid down on panel, signed with initial and inscribed Lwow, bears label for Muzeum Pomorskie, Gdansk attached to the reverse, 55x37cm Provenance: Private collection, London; gifted to father of the current owner in 1963 Note: Stanislaw Korzeniewski began his art studies in Poland and in 1895 he joined the Monachiskiej Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied until 1900 under the direction of K Rauppa. In 1903 he joined the Kunstverein and was also a member of Munchener Kunstler Genossenschaft. He was friends with the Polish writer Stanislaw Przybyszewski and took part in exhibitions at the Warsaw TZSP, Salon Krywult, Lvov and Krakow and Poznan TPSP, as well as exhibiting in Munich and Berlin.
