Lucjan Przepiórski to zapomniany malarz, którego martwe natury czy wnętrza mieszkań/pałaców wyglądają lepiej od dość drętwych i nisko wycenionych scen rodzajowych typu W kuźni. Portret kobiety z wachlarzem jest niezły ale obraz wysoko został znowu wyceniony i dlatego wędruje bez sukcesu po aukcjach chyba już po raz trzeci.

Dom aukcyjny uważa, że jest to autoportret Lucjana Przepiórskiego ze znakiem zapytania. Wystarczy jednak przeczytać biografię tego artysty zamieszczoną w Słowniku Artystów Polskich by się przekonać, że studiując w akademii petersburskiej rzeczywiscie namalował swój autoportet w 1859 roku. Aukcja niespodziewanie zakończyła się wczesniej pomimo, że była zapowiadana aż do 23 grudnia. Widocznie kogos skusiła ‘buy it now’ oferta. Portret bardzo dobry i gratulacje dla kolekcjonera. Kilka prac tego malarza było przedstawionych w przeszłości na blogu.

Little information has been received about this portrait painter of Polish origin. It should be noted that in 1898 he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français the portrait of Monsieur P. There is a wax seal with the inscription KRAKAU on the stretcher on the reverse. The canvas is unlined. Ultraviolet light reveals traces of old residual varnish which fluoresces opaquely, making the surface difficult to read. Areas of retouching are visible, notably in the Virgin’s veil and quite extensive strokes in the background to the right and below the base. There maybe other more extensive strokes in the base and to the left. Presented in a decorated gilt frame

The canvas is unlined There is a very fine localised pattern of craquelure, notably in the man’s left arm. Scattered minor strokes of retouching are visible under ultraviolet light, notably in the man’s left eyebrow and his left sleeve, the lower part of the statue and in the background to the upper left where the varnish fluoresces more opaquely. This painting is otherwise in good condition and ready to hang.
