Olga Slomszynska known as Olga SLOM was a painter, illustrator and draughtswoman born in 1881 in Vevey, Switzerland. Her father, André Słomczyński known as André Slom (Bordeaux 1844 – 1909 Paris), a French painter and illustrator, himself the son of Stanislas Słomczyński, a Polish refugee officer, was a French painter, engraver, illustrator and former communard. A friend of Gustave Courbet, he executed his death portrait on December 31, 1877. During the Commune, he took refuge in Switzerland. It was in Switzerland that his daughter Olga was born in 1881, at which time he returned to Paris and drew for several French magazines, notably L’illustration and Le Monde illustré. Olga Slom moved to Paris at the very beginning of the 20th century and initially lived in the family home at 26 Avenue des Gobelins. She was a student of her father, André Slom and Luc-Olivier Merson. She exhibited from 1909 at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which she became a member. She participated in several illustration projects and literary collections including Nouvelles et Contes de Bêtes du Docteur Boucher in 1912 and worked as an illustrator with Lucien Descaves. The painter is as well known for her park scenes, seashores and lakescapes as for her interior scenes and portraits capturing the intimacy of her models. Elise Vignault.

Na majowej  aukcji w Millon pojawiło się kilkanaście obrazów Olgi Słomczyńskiej (Olga Slom.), znanej mi wcześniej jedynie z bardzo słonecznych i kolorowych pejzaży, malowanych dość mocną pastą. Okazuje się, że artystka malowała również portrety lecz te moim zdaniem były mniej udane od pejzaży i jedynie tych ostatnich bym dalej szukał na rynku. Wśród grupy prac z obecnej aukcji zdecydowanie wyróżniał się obraz nr 175, mały lecz najbardziej ‘kolorystyczny’. Ta praca była chyba sporą okazją.
